Martin Newton named Samford Athletics Director
Martin Newton has been named the new Director of Athletics for Samford University. Newton is currently the Director of Men's Basketball Operations at the University of Kentucky. He is a 1983 Samford graduate, former basketball player, and the son of former SEC basketball coach and athletics director C.M. Newton.

SoCon Tournament: Women advance to championship with 68-66 OT win over host UTC
Samford will play in the Southern Conference Tournament championship game after defeating the host Chattanooga Mocs 68-66 in an overtime thriller.

SoCon Tournament: Furman defeats Samford men 61-48
The Samford men's basketball season ended on March 4, 2011, following a 61-48 loss to Furman. After the game, head coach Jimmy Tillette addressed the media:

SoCon Tournament: Women defeat Western Carolina 57-48
The second-seeded Samford women's basketball team opened play in the SoCon Tournament with a 57-48 win over #10 Western Carolina. Guard Jazmine Powers sparked the Bulldogs, coming off the bench for 8 points and 3 steals. Senior forward Savannah Hill led all scorers with 17 points. Conference player of the year Emily London added 15.
