Samford women end season with loss to #3 Davidson in SoCon quarterfinals

Bulldogs prepare for final battle of the season

The 6th-seeded Samford women's basketball team fell to 3rd-seeded Davidson 55-42. The Bulldogs shot just 24.6% percent for the game, and went 5-of-22 from three-point range. Freshman guard Kassidy Blevins led the team in scoring with 13 points, while All-SoCon guard Laura Murray scored 26 for the Wildcats.

Men's basketball falls to #1 seed Davidson

The Bulldogs dropped the SoCon quarterfinal round game to the Davidson Wildcats, 77-54. Freshman forward Jordan Capps was the long Bulldog scoring double figures, coming off the bench for 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. SoCon Men- Bulldogs open tournament with win over App State

The eighth-seeded Samford men's team opened the 2014 Southern Conference Basketball Tournament with a 70-56 win over #9 Appalachian State. Sophomore forward Tim Williams led Samford with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman center Michael Bradley added 11 points.

After the game App State coach Jason Capel addressed the media on the game, and a 9-21 season, as the Mountaineers prepare to exit the SoCon....

2014 SoCon Basketball Tournament

March Madness is upon us! The Samford men's and women's basketball teams are en route to Asheville, NC for the conference basketball tournament. As usual, we will have expanded tournament coverage here, including post-game press conferences, and interviews with coaches and players.

The men open play Friday morning at 10 a.m. (CT), and that game can be heard in Birmingham on FM 99.5. The women get a first round bye and will play Saturday night approximately 5:45, on the air on WVSU 5:30. Ish. (It's a tournament!) Men fall to Furman in SoCon opener

The season ended Friday for the Samford men's basketball team as the Bulldogs fell 55-51 to Furman in the opening round of the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament. SoCon Freshman of the Year Tim Williams led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Women open 2013 tournament with win over Wofford

The Samford women's basketball team has now won seven straight Southern Conference Tournament games, defeating Wofford 59-55 in Friday's first round. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by sophomore center Taylor Reece, who scored 24 points and added 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Senior guard Jazmine Martin added 14 points, while freshman guard Krista Stricklin pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Bulldog Update - 7

Tournament.
Junior guard Shelby Campbell went down in the Dec. 29 game at Auburn, and is out for the rest of the season following knee surgery. Still, Samford is 6-2 in the SoCon and near the top of the league standings. Campbell and Coach Mike Morris talk about what's ahead for Campbell and the Bulldogs...

The Samford women's basketball team returns home Saturday to face the College of Charleston, following a six-game road trip. The Bulldogs are coming off a SoCon weekend that saw a loss to Elon and win over UNCG, and are making more adjustments as another starter is lost.

Bulldog Update - 3

The Bulldogs rebounded from a home loss to Tennessee State, using stifling defense to shutdown Auburn University at Montgomery 62-24, Tuesday night at the Pete Hanna Center.

Senior forward Hannah Dawson led the team in scoring (11) and rebounding (8), while junior center Christy Robinson blocked five shots.
